Considered the signature architect of Malibu, Douglas W. Burdge, AIA, and his firm have designed more than 300 projects, including 50 custom residences, in the Malibu region alone. From Mediterranean-style estates to Modernist homes, Burdge creates breathtaking retreats that showcase the region's endless vistas of the sea and sky.

The firm's partnership with Plant began following the 2018 Woolsey Fire, collaborating to create a line of sustainable, beautifully-designed accessory dwelling units to help displaced residents return to their property.

Burdge’s work spans ocean-front homes, to award-winning boutique hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, and private clubs. The firm's projects have been featured in publications such as Architectural Digest, The Wall Street Journal, Veranda, Robb Report, Luxe, and Traditional Home. In addition to receiving several "Home of the Year" PCBC Golden Nugget awards, Burdge's residential work in Sun Valley, Idaho has consistently landed his firm on Mountain Living Magazine’s annual Top Mountain Architects & Interior Designers list.

Burdge earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Southern California, and he is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art. The proud father of twin sons, Burdge resides in Malibu with his wife, Laura, where they also own a popular home decor store, Malibu Beach House.
